Pikou Panèz  |  Tuesday 27 April

Formed and creating in Muloobinba (Newcastle), on Awabakal/Worimi land; Pikou Panèz (‘ freckles’ in Breton) is fronted by the talented Mia Peters. Mia plays her great grandmothers guitar from Paris, her sound is expressive, lilting and powerful. The band brings both original tunes and covers inspired by folk, jazz, soul and Brazilian music.

PIKOU PANEZ use experimental elements and the songs are fresh and new. Each individual part uses challenging techniques, Mia’s authentic vocal sound is entrancing with vocal melodies doubled or contrasted creatively with saxophone lines. Solid bass lines are matched with groove and colour on the drums and percussion.
