Ashby & the Tonewheels | Tuesday 9 May

Drawing inspiration from 1960s Rock, Blues and Boogaloo the Tonewheels deliver a soulful yet gritty performance infused with the stylistic and iconic sounds of Guitar, Hammond organ, Bass and Drums. Their music comprises Blues and Boogaloo standards, groove-laden arrangements of 1960’s pop classics and original pieces by guitarist Richard Ashby. The Tonewheels trick bag combines a mastery of jazz improvisation, the raw, edginess of blues and in-the-pocket grooves to create a fresh and creative approach to a classic guitar and organ combo.

Ashby's latest release 'Arkadia Blues' is currently in the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart Top 10, and also the UK Blues Broadcasters Chart Top 40. Arkadia Blues was recently featured in the US Blues publication 'Blues Blast Magazine' and is receiving regular airplay nationally and abroad (UK, Canada & the US).
