The Five Dockers| Tuesday 6 September
The Five Dockers are back at their first show in the refurbished Grand Hotel Underground. They will be presenting a mix of jazz tunes from the bebop era and exploring different styles and compositions from many of the great players of the time.

Dorian Mode Organ Trio | Tuesday 13 September
Dorian Mode is a multi award-winning jazz musician who is as well known for his funny novels as his cool music! He first hit the jazz scene with the mighty Hammond B3 Organ. It earned him a record contract with EMI Records – one of the few Australian jazz artists to be signed to a major – releasing his debut CD ‘Rebirth of the Cool’ Dorian has since recorded numerous jazz CD’s and performed at leading jazz and fringe festivals nationally.

Adam Miller Trio | Tuesday 20 September
With a unique approach to the guitar, Adam Miller’s music has a melodic sophistication that only comes from years of cross genre hopping. His inclusion of complex rhythms and dissonant haunting phrases, combined with breathtaking riffs and melodies are his signature. His jazz influenced style with finger-picking mastery creates an improvisation filled live performance that is beautifully unpredictable.

Bella Groove | Tuesday 27 September
Canberra based Jazz vocalist, flautist and composer, Elise Walsh returns to her home town Newcastle in September to perform at NIMA’s Tuesday night Jazz series in the newly renovated Grand Hotel Underground.
Elise received a Music Award from the Canberra Critics’ Circle for her leadership as a vocalist, flautist and songwriter of the jazz band Bella Groove. Elise’s debut jazz album “City Lights” is “an eclectic mix of originals and jazz standards”.
Standards range from upbeat swing to beautiful ballads. Originals include the classic swinging Should We through to the funky grooves of City Of Yes.
