Bella Groove | Tuesday 23 April
Canberra Critic’s Circle Award winner, Elise Walsh and her contemporary jazz group Bella Groove have been a fixture on the Canberra music scene for a number of years.
Elise's original music has shaped into a distinctive personal style that embraces Jazz–pop/rock sensibilities and strong melodies, alongside contemporary grooves.
Excited to be performing again at NIMA’s Tuesday night jazz – Elise will be joined by a couple of her favourite rhythm players, Toby Hall (drums) and Pete Gray (bass), including one of Canberra’s finest guitarists, Matt Lustri (who also sings!).
Elise loves to interpret a good swing and Bossa tune, so you are likely to see a couple of favourite standards on the night.
In 2021, Elise released a live EP recorded at Smith’s Alternative in Canberra – available on Bandcamp. It followed the group’s 2017 album ‘City Lights’, available on all popular music stores and streaming services.
“GROOVIN’ to the sounds of jazz by Bella Groove was the perfect way to wash away a frustrating year of cancelled concerts, changed programs and disruptions in the local music industry.”
