Bella Groove

Canberra Critic’s Circle Award winner, Elise Walsh and her contemporary jazz group Bella Groove have been a fixture on the Canberra music scene for a number of years. Elise's original music has shaped into a distinctive personal style that embraces Jazz–pop/rock sensibilities and strong melodies, alongside contemporary grooves.

Excited to be performing again at NIMA’s Tuesday night jazz – Elise will be joined by a couple of her favourite rhythm players, Toby Hall (drums) and Pete Gray (bass), including one of Canberra’s finest guitarists, Matt Lustri (who also sings!). Elise loves to interpret a good swing and Bossa tune, so you are likely to see a couple of favourite standards on the night. In 2021, Elise released a live EP recorded at Smith’s Alternative in Canberra – available on Bandcamp. It followed the group’s 2017 album ‘City Lights’, available on all popular music stores and streaming services.
