About the Event
The B is for Bass and the V is for Voice. Bravo Victor encompasses a unique mesh of genres with jazz traditionalist and bassist Jono Burgess colliding with Sophie Annesley's ethereal vocal qualities recalling the likes of Beth Gibbons from UK trip-hop pioneers Portishead. You will hear some truly sassy scatting backed by a unique bass accompaniment (Jono's bass has an extra string, a high) influenced by modern jazz, pop, funk, blues and folk.
Bravo Victor started as a university performance assignment while they were studying together at the University of Newcastle. They've released two EPs and performed prolifically around the east coast of Australia. It's been years since they reunited following Sophie's stint in the UK.
