About the Event
Carl Dewhurst has been a stalwart of the Sydney jazz scene for over thirty years and is considered one of Australia’s finest jazz and improvising guitarists. He has played with a who’s who of Australian jazz artists and has released over a dozen albums of original
music as a leader or collaborator. His latest album, Avicennia, features his trio with special guest, Brooklyn-based alto saxophonist Lisa Parrott.
Dewhurst and Parrott have collaborated for decades in both Australia and the US, often working with long-time associate Cameron Undy in groups such as Happy Tribe and NUDE. Dewhurst also appeared on Parrott’s highly acclaimed album Round Tripper,
recorded in NYC.
Parrott has been based in the USA for many years and won the 2016 Down Beat Critics Poll Rising Star award for baritone saxophone. She continues to be included yearly in Down Beat’s critics' and readers' polls. Her performance credits include Dave…
