Band Bio
Friends and Strangers is a music group from Sydney Australia, comprising some of Sydney’s best jazz and Session musicians. Led by the young wonder Bassist Galileo Risby (16), the group consists of Gordon Rytmeister on drums, Ben Hauptmann on Guitar and Bill Risby on Piano and keyboards.
Individually and occasionally together they have played with artists as diverse as Lalo Schifrin, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Gallarwuy Yunupingu, Bob Mintzer, Maria Schneider, Wynton Marsalis, Leo Sayer, Tal Wilkenfeld, Paul Kelly and Terumasa Hino. They perform original Brazilian/funk music as well as their own arrangements of jazz and fusion classics by a broad swathe of artists including Pat Metheny, Eliane Elias, Fourplay, Dave Grusin and Lee Ritenour.
