About the Event
Martin Rotolo is a guitarist and composer from Newcastle with a chronic case of ‘Curious Fingers’. From his beginnings in a raucous high school Punk band, Martin has dipped his digits into a diverse range of styles and settings. With his original ensemble ‘Edge Case‘, he creates infectious melodies which dance upon interlocking grooves and spicy harmonies.
"I called the group ‘Edge Case’ after reading an article about the issues with self-driving cars. Edge Cases are the unexpected events that can occur on the road which require snap decision making and well developed instincts. It reminded me of what it’s like to perform my music live – being completely in the moment and embracing all the chaos that comes with live performance. It’s also a reminder to push my composing to the edge and squeeze as much as possible out of the ephemeral impulses that roll around in my head."
