
NIMA PERFORMERS AGREEMENT
WHO WE ARE
NIMA is a purely volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation that exists entirely for the community, musicians and their music. We’re home to a passionate live music audience and work hard to bring an exciting array of local, national and international acts to Newcastle each week.
THE FACTS
The Underground Bar | Grand Hotel Newcastle is located at 32 Church St Newcastle, approx. 2.5hrs drive north of Sydney and around the corner from heritage listed icon-Newcastle Ocean Baths.
The venue has a stage area with an approximate size of 3m (D) x 4m (W), and an audience capacity of 80 people with an average attendance of 40 - 70 people weekly. Our stage can only accommodate a 7 piece band maximum.
Access for load-in and out is from the Bolton St side entry, on the western side of the building.
Load in from 5.30-6.30pm, sound check 6.30-7.30pm strictly. Please contact NIMA if you require earlier access.
A band storage space behind the stage is provided for cases, equipment, and personal belongings.
Please remove empty cases/bags etc from the stage area after sound check.
Doors Open at 7.30pm at which time sound check must cease.
Performers play 2 x sets with set times as follows:
Set 1: 8.00pm - 8.50pm
Set 2: 9.10pm - 10.00pm (if an encore is requested and you oblige you may play until 10.15pm)
NIMA volunteers manage the venue set up/pack down and Door Operations.
We run on a strict door deal with Ticket prices set at:
$25 NIMA Non-members | $20 NIMA Members
Performers are allocated one complimentary ticket per artist.
Please provide guest list names to the door volunteers prior to 7.30pm.
Great restaurant meals and drinks are available for purchase upstairs or from the bar.
All performers are entitled to staff priced drinks.
Please feel free to sell any merchandise you might have - our volunteers will be happy to
help with sales at the door.
Accommodation can be arranged at the Grand Hotel for a discounted rate if you mention that you are performing with NIMA - Unfortunately, NIMA cannot subsidise costs.

One of our volunteers also has a granny flat available in Adamstown for an overnight stay and/or rehearsal space if required. Adamstown is a 10 minute drive from the Grand Hotel. Please email: bookings@nima.org.au

NIMA provides a Sound Technician and basic PA for all NIMA events, comprising of:

- There is no capacity to rig/install extra hardware.

PAYMENT
NIMA operates on a door deal arrangement with an 70/30 split:
70% of door takings are provided to the band with a minimum guarantee of $600 inclusive of GST.
30% of door takings are used to sustain NIMA production and promotional costs.
So if the gig sells out to our maximum of 70 tix the band could earn up to approximately $1,200 inc. GST
You will be advised of the amount received at the end of the night with with performance fee statement.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS AMOUNT IS INCLUSIVE OF GST

PROMOTION
If you are interested in performing with NIMA please complete the form below and date this agreement to accept our Terms and Conditions. Once we have received your agreement together with the required promotional material, NIMA will be in touch within 5 business days to discuss our capacity and potential dates. Your request will not be considered if you do not provide the promo information required. This is to ensure NIMAs volunteer marketing team can effectively promote your gig to increase ticket sales. If a musician is yet to be confirmed please advise TBC. Please let us know on the form if you require assistance to source local musicians. Thank you for your co-operation.
WHAT NIMA DOES TO PROMOTE YOUR GIG:

Promote your gig on NIMAs website with ticket sales 3months in advance.

Advertise on NIMAs social media one week ahead of your gig.

Print and distribute monthly posters/flyers.

Email NIMAs monthly e-newsletter to our subscribers.

Advertise on WhatsOn Newcastle and The Grand Hotel.

Please note: NIMAs social media is focused on the short term promotions of upcoming gigs. NIMAs website will promote your gig 3months ahead.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROMOTE YOUR GIG:

Tag NIMA on your social media, NIMA will approve co-host requests 7days prior to your gig.

Provide your own posters/flyers one month prior to your gig at your own expense for distribution.

Contact 1233ABC Newcastle local radio for an interview by calling 1300 331 233 or text 0487 991 233.

Run an article/advertise in the Newcastle Herald, InTouch magazine or Hunter on Hunter.
