NIMA supports emerging artists by providing performance opportunities for graduates of the University of Newcastle, TAFE and other local musicians so that they can showcase their skills and repertoire in a professional performance space, gaining valuable performance experience. In doing so, NIMA aspires to carve out a new niche for upcoming local artists involved in Jazz and Improvised Music.

Newcastle Jazz Festival is in its 25th year and NIMA is proud to be working with the Newcastle and Hunter Jazz Club in staging such an exciting event that showcases an eclectic range of local, national and international performers. Mark the weekend Friday to Sunday, August 24 to 26, in your diary.

Thanks to The Steve Hunter Trio for an amazing performance. If you were unfortunate enough to miss it, Steve will be returning to The Underground on May 22 with The Kim Lawson Trio.
