Daryl Aberhart Aussie Gold Vol II featuring Sean Wayland (NYC)

 

Aussie Gold Vol I is one of Daryl Aberharts most popular recordings, with it’s funky, sophisticated and artful re-arrangements of ten all-time Australian radio hits.

 

One of the most common questions he gets asked year in, year out is “when might an Aussie Gold Vol II appear ?”. Well, while it won’t ever (at this stage) be formally tracked in a studio, Daryl will be presenting a new collection of classics, Aussie Gold Vol II with an all-star band and a very special international guest, composer and musician Sean Wayland (NYC).

 

The night will feature two sets of Daryl doing his thing alongside his highly talented bassist daughter Grace, local legend Brad Rheinberger on drums and young gun Harley Coleman on guitar for a night of unforgettable and inimical grooves and classic tunes you know re-framed in fun and funky ways.

 

With the addition of the improvisational flights of our special guest, New York based pianist/synth artist Sean Wayland, this is sure to be an exciting and delightful evening. In honour of Sean being here they will also be performing a couple of tunes from his marvellous album Pistachio which is an extra cherry on this already amazing Sunday.

 

This one off night is being put on especially by NIMA as a fundraiser for The Jacob Neale Jazz Awards, and a percentage of the door will be going directly to NIMA towards the prize money for the next competition in 2026.
